I hope everyone had a great spring break! I am glad to be back with the kids! This week we are continuing to study conservation. We will be learning more about pollinators and how plants grow. On Monday we did some spring planting in the garden. This is something that will continue throughout the year.

Hello Parents!
Don’t forget! The National Week of the Young Child is April 11 – 15th. We will be having special events during this entire week to celebrate pre-school aged children. Monday, April 11: Pajama Day/ Show and Tell (please send your child with a special item to share during show and tell (please make sure that it is an item that can be safely shared and played with by other children) Tuesday, April 12: Gross Motor Focus at Bixler Park. We will take a short walk over to Bixler Park to have a day filled with outdoor gross motor activities. Please be sure to dress your child in good running and gross motor shoes. Wednesday, April 13: Parent Teacher Conferences-For parents of 4 year olds only (i.e kids GOING to kindergarten next year) Please see Friday’s events for information about the parents of 3 year olds. Feel free to schedule an appointment with me before or after school next week if you would like to meet and discuss your student. Thursday, April 14: Bee Day- We are encouraging children to wear black and yellow like a Bee to celebrate our focus on bees, honey, and hives. We will have a Special Guest Speaker: Beekeeper Naaman Gambil come in and give us a demonstration. Friday, April 15 (No regular classes) Parent& Child Activity 9:15-10:05 for everyone beginning at 10:05 we will meet with the Parents of 3 year olds only: Teachers will be presenting on how to prepare 3 year old students for their 2nd year of pre-k. If you would like to meet with your child’s teacher outside of this meeting please schedule a date with her. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------On Monday, the AM class finally got to speak with the experts at the Turtle Sanctuary. Our first call had to be rescheduled due to technical difficulties. They were very excited and it went exceptionally well! Be sure to ask your AM student about the call. This week we will continue to learn about bees in preparation for our beekeeper visit on Thursday. We are diagraming a honey bee and reading the books The Honey Makers, Are You a Bee? and Busy Bees. This week we will start our unit on conservation. We began platting our seeds for the garden as well as read books about the earth. We are reading The Earth Book by Todd Parr and The Earth and I by Frank Asch. We are creating a poster about things that are good for the earth and things that are bad for the earth and will be adding to it daily. The week of the young child is April 11th. We will be having special events during this entire week to celebrate pre-school aged children. Monday, April 11: Pajama Day/ Show and Tell Tuesday, April 12: Walking Bixler Park Wednesday, April 13: Parent Teacher Conferences-For parents of 4 and 5 year olds going to kindergarten only (sign-ups will be outside of each classroom-if the times do not work for you can schedule another time to meet with me) Thursday, April 14: Special Guest Speaker: Beekeeper Naaman Gambil-We are encouraging the kids to dress like bees or wear black and yellow.
