Parent, We are beginning our unit on mail and the postal service. We will be writing ourselves a letter and mailing it to learn how the mail system functions. Please sit down and write your address on an envelope and add a stamp with your child. Send in that envelope to school by no later than February 8th. If you have any extra stationary, envelopes, stickers, address sticker or cards please send them in. We will be creating a post office in our classroom and the children love to pretend to make mail! We will be reading the books The Post Office by Gail Gibbons, The Jolly Postman by Janet Ahlberg, A Letter to Amy by Ezra Jack Keats and Dear Mr Blueberry by Simon James. We will create a K (know) W (want to learn) L (learn) about the postal system on Monday to help guide our learning throughout this unit. For Valentine’s Day, please do not send in any candy with your child. We have severe allergies and we don’t want anyone to get sick. If you would like to send in Valentine’s cards, please do not write the student’s names on individual cards. This makes it very difficult for students to hand them out. Next week we will decorate our Valentine’s Day bags. Please send in stickers, ribbon or any Valentine ’s Day decorations for this activity! Please just have your child sign each card with their name. We will be handing cards out on February 11th. February 12 we will have a Parent Child Activity from 9:30-10:30. There will be no other class that day. Please plan on attending this with your student.
