Dear Parents,
We are continuing our study of butterflies. The caterpillars we received have now turned into chrysalises right before our eyes! This week we will begin to learn about the butterfly body parts, further explore their life cycle and discuss why butterflies are important to plants and the planet. We will be reading books such as Starting Life Butterfly by Claire Llewellyn, Farfallina and Marcel by Holly Keller, A Butterfly is Patient by Dianna Hutts Aston, Monarch and Milkweed by Helen Frost, Painted Lady Butterflies by Martha E.H Rustad and Born to be a Butterfly by Karent Wallace. Our letter of the week is X. Please send in your small butterfly pictures no later than Thursday. We will be working on our butterfly journals that will be full of observational drawings. If your child brought home a bean plant in a bag as well as a bean book, please look through it with them and notice their excellent observational drawings. Be sure to plant the bean (roots side down) in some dirt so it will continue to grow and your child can watch the life cycle process of a bean. Remember: No school on Monday!
